First Teaser For Child Of God

Today the first teaser for Child Of God, directed by James Franco and starring Scott Haze was released. The haunting 45 second teaser features a beautiful tight hand-held shot of Scott Haze as the infamous Lester Ballard.

Child Of God is set to have its World Premiere this Saturday, August 31st, in official competiton at The Venice Film Festival. It has been confirmed that both Scott Haze and James Franco will attend the films premiere in Venice.

The official synopsis for Child of God, which is based on Pulitzer winning author Cormac McCarthy’s novel, reads:

“Set in mountainous Sevier County, Tennessee in the 1960s, Child of God tells the story of Lester Ballard, a dispossessed, violent man whom the narrator describes as “a child of God much like yourself perhaps.” Ballard’s life is a disastrous attempt to exist outside the social order. Deprived of both his parents and a home, and with few other ties, Ballard descends to the level of a cave dweller, falling deeper into crime and degradation”

Child Of God also stars Tim Blake Nelson and Jim Parrack and will have its North American Premiere next month at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and has also been officially selected to be part of the 2013 New York Film Festival.

Child Of God Officially Selected For New York Film Festival

Child of God starring Scott Haze and directed by James Franco is an official selection of the 51st New York Film Festival. This news comes after annoucements that the film will make its world premiere at the 70th Venice Film Festival on August 31st and its North American premiere at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival this September.

A brief of Child of God was released by The New York Film Festival, which reads:

“James Franco’s uncompromising excursion into American Gothic, adapted from Cormac McCarthy’s 1973 novel, about an unstable sociopath in early 60s rural Tennessee who descends into an animal-like state – not for the faint-hearted.”

The official synopsis for Child of God, which is based on Pulitzer winning author Cormac McCarthy’s novel, reads:

New Image Of Scott Haze In Child Of God

Three new images from Child Of God, the new film directed by James Franco and starring Scott Haze have been released, ahead of the films world premiere in two weeks.

The photos, attached below, give us our first look at Tim Blake Nelson as Sheriff Fate, a shot of James Franco directing and a new image of Scott Haze as Lester Ballard.

The synopsis for Child Of God, which is based on the 1973 novel, by Pulitzer winning author Cormac McCarthy, reads:

“Set in mountainous Sevier County, Tennessee, in the 1960s, Child of God tells the story of Lester Ballard (Scott Haze), a dispossessed, violent man whom the narrator describes as “a child of God much like yourself perhaps.” Ballard’s life is a disastrous attempt to exist outside the social order. Successively deprived of parents and homes and with few other ties, Ballard descends literally and figuratively to the level of a cave dweller as he falls deeper into crime and degradation.”

Child Of God will have its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on the 31st August in official competition and will have it’s North American premiere at The Toronto International Film Festival in September.
