It has been announced that Child Of God, based off the novel by Cormac McCarthy, directed by James Franco and starring Scott Haze will make its world premiere at the 70th Venice Film Festival on August 31st, and its North American premiere at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival in September.
The official synopsis for the film reads:
“Set in mountainous Sevier County, Tennessee, in the 1960s, Child of God tells the story of Lester Ballard (Scott Haze), a dispossessed, violent man whom the narrator describes as “a child of God much like yourself perhaps.” Ballard’s life is a disastrous attempt to exist outside the social order. Successively deprived of parents and homes and with few other ties, Ballard descends literally and figuratively to the level of a cave dweller as he falls deeper into crime and degradation.”
Child Of God has been selected to participate in the festival’s category of Special Presentation, alongside Kevin Macdonald’s How I Live Now, Sean Durkin’s Southcliffe and many more.
Two new photos where also released of Scott Haze as Ballard, which can be seen below.
Child Of God also stars Tim Blake Nelson and Jim Parrack.
